How do I use this web site?

ASSIST helps you find community college courses that are transferable to a UC or CSU campus and how those transferable courses might be used to satisfy subject matter requirements for specific majors or general education requirements.

To see the lists of transferable courses and the articulation agreements, start by choosing an institution from the selection list. To view transferable courses, select a community college. To view articulation agreements between two institutions, you may select either a community college or a university.

ASSIST also provides information about majors offered at UC and CSU campuses. To Explore Majors, choose a specific major that interests you, a campus you are considering attending, a community college in your area or transfer information for a specific community college, and University of California or California State University campus.

Why isn’t the data for the college or university I need one of my choices?

There are several possibilities. Here are just a few:

Why are all or some of the links grayed out (unselectable)?

There are three main possibilities:

  1. You selected a university campus as the first institution. Many of the lists available in ASSIST are lists of community college courses that are transferable or can be used to meet specific requirements upon transfer to a university. To see these lists, you must select a community college as the first institution.
  2. The data for that list may not have been updated yet. The universities determine their own timeframe for updating data. Therefore, all data is not necessarily published in ASSIST at the same time. Check back to see if the data you are looking for has been published.
  3. The university may not provide articulation in the format you’re looking for, so the General Education link may be grayed out.

Where is the information for USC (or another private college or university)?

ASSIST is funded by California tax dollars and is intended to facilitate transfer from a California community college to a University of California or California State University campus. There is no information regarding transfer from or to private universities or colleges in ASSIST.

I’m transferring from another state. Where’s the information I need?

ASSIST is funded by California tax dollars and is intended to facilitate transfer from a California community college to a University of California or California State University campus. There is no information regarding transfer from or to out-of-state colleges or universities in ASSIST.

For out-of-state transfer, contact an admissions advisor at the campus you plan to attend. For international transfer, contact the international student center at the campus you plan to attend. All of the university campuses have special offices for international students.

When will the articulation for next year be available?

Articulation in ASSIST is valid for the academic year(s) indicated at the beginning of the agreement. Each university campus updates and publishes its articulation on a schedule based on campus policies and priorities. Since each campus determines its own schedule, we cannot provide information about when new data will be published.

If the articulation information you are looking for is not available in ASSIST, check directly with the university you are interested in attending regarding your courses to be sure they will articulate.

What’s the difference between a transferable course and an articulated course?

There is an important difference between a transferable course and an articulated course but the terms are sometimes used as if they are interchangeable:

Transferable courses

ASSIST is not involved in determining which courses are transferable to UC or CSU.

Articulated Courses

Can you tell me exactly what courses I should take?

There are many variables in each student’s academic plan. ASSIST is not affiliated with any one college or university and cannot provide academic advising. Your academic counselor or advisor at your community college or an admissions or departmental advisor at the university you plan to attend is best prepared to answer your specific questions.
